Brand Spotlight: Ausceuticals

This year, I’ve been paying a lot of attention to my skincare – focusing on giving it the proper TLC it deserves. So when Perth based Australian brand Ausceuticals got in touch to collaborate*, moi couldn’t resist.

Calm Down Face Cleanserausceuticals calm down face cleanser

This is such a unique product. I’ve never actually heard of nor used a powder cleanser before. But this was easy enough to understand – tip out powder, add water to make it a paste, apply to your face in small circular motions. Rinse off with warm water.

Ingredients taken off the website:

Colloidal Oatmeal (Avena Sativa kernel flour)*, Oryza Sativa (Brown Rice) Powder*, (French Pink Clay) Kaolinite, Australian Pink Clay, Calamine Powder (Zinc Oxide; Ferric Oxide), Manuka Honey Powder, Theobroma Cacao (Raw Cacao) Powder*, Goat Milk powder, Cocos Nucifera Extract (coconut milk powder), *Tapioca starch, Salix Alba Extract (white willow bark extract)*, Musa Pardisiaca (Banana) Fruit Powder, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root powder*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Sucrose Cocoate (naturally derived cleanser from coconut oil- Ecocert approved), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Panthanol, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (coconut derived surfectant), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Caffeine Anhydrous, Powdered Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender).

The cleanser smells predominantly of the rice powder (growing up in an Indian family, the scent is a familiar one). The granulated texture is great to gently exfoliate the skin. You’re left with beautifully radiant skin.

The beauty of this cleanser is that it can also be used as a mask. You just need to adjust the level of water to make a paste with a slightly thicker consistency. Leave on until it dries to a slightly tacky finish and wash off.

Vitamin B Serumausceuticals vitamin b serum

I mentioned on my Instagram post that I do have some sun spots that I would like to have fade away. Enter this gel based serum. With ingredients like 10% niacinamide, licorice root and papaya extract, it’s been helpful to reduce the appearance of sun spots. I’m not claiming that the sun spots have magically and dramatically disappeared – far from it. They have lightened with continued use.

The serum has a light metallic scent to it, but not off-putting at all. It smooths on well and absorbs into the skin easily.

Prickly Pear Seed Oilausceuticals prickly pear seed oil

Did you know that prickly pear refers to a type of cactus? I certainly didn’t know that!

This is an almost clear oil with a light scent to it. It is non greasy and absorbs easily into the skin. The oil is a rich source of vitamin K1, vitamin E, fatty acids and all the good stuff to help brighten up your skin. I love that it doesn’t just sit over the top of the skin. My skin does feel hydrated and soft.

I also received samples of the beauty blend oil and the marula oil. I have heard so many great things about marula oil and you can probably guess that I was super excited to try it. And I’m glad I did!! That marula oil amped up the hydration on my skin so well! The luxury beauty blend facial oil smells incredible and almost on par with my all time favourite smelling oil – the Trilogy Antioxidant+ Rosehip oil.

Overall Thoughts

The products are clearly of high quality. The packaging is downright clean and stands out because of it’s minimalist design. I really love the Calm Down face wash. The concept is so cool and I really enjoy the exfoliating action it has. I’m so glad to have been invited to try this brand. I need to get more of the marula oil when I run out.
