As Salaamu Alaikum (translation: Peace be upon you) everyone!
Eid is here and I thought I would have a Get Ready With Me for you all.
What is Eid?
Eid is a time of celebration for Muslims all over the world. It is a time where we gather at the mosque for special prayers, donating to the poor, sharing a meal and gift giving. Everyone dresses up in their finest for the celebration. For me, this is also another
excuse opportunity get some new makeup.
I’m going for my new favourite with this one – my Musq foundation in Rajasthan. This is a foundation I received to trial from the company. I’m absolutely loving the look of the way it makes my skin look – airbrushed, dewy, luminous, flawless! I apply this with fingers and then blend out with my Real Techniques buffing brush. The result is #myskinbutbetter. This foundation lasts all day and doesn’t really need a touch up during the day (unless maybe if you have extremely oily skin and regularly have to touch up your makeup anyway). Wonderfully pigmented, I found that the coverage is excellent too! I skipped concealer and went back in with my Real Techniques detailer brush to complete my “real life photoshop”.
A long day calls for old reliable. Something I trust will deliver the results I want – naturally flushed cheeks that lasts. This just has to be my Ride or Die – my Benefit Benetint. Just a dot will give you a barely there flush or you can layer it on for a more statement look. This blush sets fast so work on one cheek at a time. For my look, I will be using a couple of sheer layers for a light flush.
This Eid, I’m giving the Smashbox Full Exposure mini eyeshadow palette a workout. I’ve never owned anything from Smashbox before, so I’m truly excited! The original eyeshadow palette has 14 eyeshadows – both shimmers and mattes. There are two versions of the mini palettes – a purely matte version and another that has a combo of matte and shimmer. Both minis have 8 shadows each. I was quite tempted to go for the purely matte version, but the shimmers in the other palette were just calling out to me (and like a protective mama bear, I couldn’t just leave them behind!).
I decided to go the sort of safe-ish route and use the browns and the gold shimmer shades for the day. I will be using the Maybelline Kohl Liner too – just to ensure longevity of my makeup. I’m going for a slightly soft yet statement shadow on the eyes. The matte brown shadow will serve as base and trasition in the crease. The brown shimmer all over the lid to lighten things up.
For Mascara, I will be going in with my Benefit They’re Real Mascara – this one does not budge! You need a special remover to get rid of any traces of this product from your lashes.
With the smokey eye, I tend to favor a light or nude lip. However, I decided to play it fast and loose and that a bit of a vibrant nude (yes that’s what I said – vibrant nude) is what I wanted and so I relied on my L’Oréal Infallible Matte Max Lip Pen in 004 Oops I Pink It Again. I love the pinky red shade!
In the final look, I cleaned up the smoked out wing and some of the smudged liner in the lower lashline to further soften the look.
Here’s the final look. What do you think?
