Review: Gilded Cage Beauty

Gilded Cage are an Australian brand with products designed in Paris and made in Italy.

I was sent some items for review by the company – two Revelation eyeshadows and their best selling Charisma lip gloss.

I was really impressed by the minimalistic design on the packaging. The Dark Green box is offset by the beautifully simple Gold design.

First up: the Revelation eyeshadows. These are cream shadows that set to a powder finish. And when I say set, I mean budge proof, long lasting vibrant colours.20161110_110023-01

I received two eyeshadows – No. 8 Jewelled Aubergine and No. 23 Rose Gold. They come in a tube with a doe foot applicator. The tubes are well made and speak volumes of a high quality product. The design on the product reflects the design on the box.

The shadows are vividly pigmented and feel silky smooth, but can be sheered out by applying it in thin layers. I prefer to use a brush because I can control the level of pigmentation and blending. You have a bit of time to blend, but once set, it doesn’t budge. I love the micro shimmer in the shadows as they add a beautiful new layer to the look when the shimmer catches the light.

Now, I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of lip glosses. I love how they look, but they are sticky, goopy and your hair gets in it and gets messy. Not so much with this one.2016-11-14-14-19-12

It is a thick gloss, but it doesn’t slide nor does it get everywhere and mess up that makeup you spent ages perfecting. You definitely need a makeup remover to get rid of traces of this gloss; a simple swipe with a wet wipe will just not do. I really love the micro shimmer in the gloss – similar to the shadow. It really elevates your lips and boosts whatever product you’re wearing underneath. While I’m not shouting from the rooftops, this product has helped me make my peace with glosses.

  1. Im a very occasional lipgloss wearer, like you not a huge fan, i prefer balms and lipsticks to glosses, you never know when itll get windy lol. But GC glosses are definitely better in quality than some others ive tried. Urgh.. that purple is so pretty!!

    1. I know right. I feel the same way about glosses. The GC gloss actually changed the colour of my lipstick. What was originally a brown red turned into a purple shade. I loved it!
