Review: McArthur Skincare

Hello beautiful people. When a local brand reaches out with products that contain natural ingredients and no-gimmicky claims, my interest piques and I’m all ears (well, that would be a scary view – all ears). I’ve seen McArthur Skincare products around the Instagram universe and the reviews have been great. So when the brand got in touch with me*, I couldn’t wait to put it to the test myself. So, what did I receive?

Complete Skincare Bodywash

Size: 350ml

Price: AUD 23.95

This cleanser is great for everyday use – the cream cleanser makes my skin feel light and moisturised. The scent is similar to the shampoo and conditioner – it has a herbal tinge to it; but it’s absolutely light (almost non existent). I have a strong scents of smell (hehe get it?) – yea that was bad! If you want to feel refreshed, this is the cleanser to go to. And because it’s a cream cleanser, you only need a little bit. Also, great for sensitive skin types!

Muscle Aches and Pains Cream

Size: 75gm

Price: AUD 26.95

Being a mum of a toddler, I’m always feeling aches and pains from constantly running around or falling asleep on the couch while trying to do laundry. I’m the walking parenting meme you see on social media – the kid sleeping on the bed forcing you to sleep in weird and awkward positions to make sure they don’t wake up. I have lost count of the times I’ve had a strained neck or muscle pain. I love using this pain cream to help soothe aches and pains. Combine it with a heat pack on the affected area and I’m all set! The Muscle Aches & Pain Cream contains the natural ingredients Aloe Vera and Arnica that is traditionally used for relief of mild pain in the muscles and joints¹.

Psoriasis, Dermatitis and Rashes Cream

Size: 75gm

Price: AUD 27.95

It’s taken me a while to write this post because this is something I’m very conscious about. (ok, breathe in and out – you can do this Lubz). For the last 15 years, I’ve suffered from Psoriasis on the back of my hairline. It is an affliction that means your new skin cells are produced faster than the old skin cells are able to shed. This causes a build up of skin that does not look pretty and has a whole lot of symptoms like flaky skin and itchiness! While it is an annoyance, I’m thankful that for me, I’m only affected in the back of my scalp. Some people have this condition all over their skin and it’s an itchy nightmare. Unfortunately, there isn’t a cure to this condition; just a way to manage the symptoms. I’ve been on steroid topical gels to help control the symptoms, but it’s a never ending cycle of apply, stop when the symptoms clear and then reapply when it comes back. This cream contains 60% paw paw extract along with aloe vera and chickweed – natural ingredients which are traditionally used in herbal medicine for the relief of mild itchy, irritated and dry skin associated with psoriasis, dermatitis and rashes. The taupe brown cream feels cool when applied to the affected area. It is not greasy and doesn’t have a weird smell to it. This cream does have a similar result as the steroid gel in that it clears up the flaky skin and the itchiness goes away, but it takes a longer time for you to see results. I found the cream a lot more effective when it comes to soothing rashes on the skin¹.

Scalp Care Shampoo and Conditioner

Size: 250ml

Price: AUD 27.95 (Shampoo) / AUD 13.55 (Conditioner)

These scalp care products were sent to complement the cream. At first, I wasn’t a big fan of the scent. The herbal scent made me gag a little haha. But you know what, it’s actually a lot better than the sickeningly fruity floral scent that some shampoo and conditioners have. The shampoo makes my hair feel nice and clean. The conditioner is a great combo to the shampoo. It left my hair soft and not like a frizz ball. Again, the scent of the shampoo and conditioner didn’t linger in my hair. I still need to use a serum and a masque occasionally to make sure it boosts the softness of my hair.

Overall Thoughts

Aussie Made, potent Paw Paw ingredients that works! My favourite is the Muscle Aches & Pains cream followed by the Skincare Bodywash. I’m really impressed by these products and I’m so grateful that they have reached out to me to review their products.

Have you tried McArthur Skincare products? Which one appeals to you?
