Have you ever had products a list but never got round to trying? Yea, me too (my list is a REALLLLLLY long one at that)! Nude by Nature is just one of those brands for me! I finally got my opportunity to try the brand recently when I joined the Beautyheaven trial team. I received a sample of the Flawless Collection Set, which includes the foundation and the concealer.
The packaging is really beautiful – the frosted glass of the foundation bottle is reminiscent of a high-end brand. The rose gold lid compliments the frosted glass and dresses up the products really well. The concealer comes in all rose-gold packaging to tie in with the set.
Product & Colour
With a total of 10 foundations to choose from, the sets come in three groupings – Light, Medium and Tan and between Warm and Neutral tones. From the colour swatches on screen, I was tossing between N6 Olive and N7 Warm Nude. Eventually, I chose the shade N7 Warm Nude. I’m glad that I chose the deeper shade as the foundation colour tends to run lighter in real life.
The concealers have a choice of 5 shades – this time, I selected the middle shade 04 Rose Beige.
My gripe with the colour choices is that I’m the darkest shade in the range. So if I go any more tanned (as I normally do) during summer, the foundation will be too light for me. This also means that anyone with deeper skin tone than I have will not be able to choose a matching foundation.
This is the Nude by Nature claim on the brand website:
A long wearing, liquid foundation that instantly delivers a flawless medium to full coverage with a satin matte finish
The foundation definitely delivers on the claims – the result is medium to full coverage and the satin matte finish with a slight luminosity to it. This isn’t a dewy or radiant foundation at all.
To be honest, I had a little bit of trouble when using this foundation. It sets fast. On a cold day, I struggled to blend product onto my skin. It set a lot faster than I could blend. And this happened with fingers as well as with the Nude by Nature buffing brush. As I ran my buffing brush over my skin, it formed tiny balls of product that just seemed to roll in the direction of my brush.
The only way that helped stay this issue was to use a primer with high silicone content. Something that had a lot of slip to it. My YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer worked well to address my concerns with the fast setting foundation.
I have to try the foundation with a damp beauty blender and see if it works any better. Maybe the damp of the sponge will help delay the “drying” process of the product if you know what I mean?
With regard to the concealer, the Nude by Nature claims are:
A long wearing stick concealer that expertly camouflages dark circles, pigmentation and imperfections.
The concealer is a cream stick format that melts on to the skin. I agree with the website claims – the product is super creamy and blends really well. You just need to pat into the skin either with fingertips or with a pointed brush. This works well to camouflage dark circles, especially under the eyes. I also use it as a quick way to bring light to areas like the bridge of my nose and forehead, when I’m in the mood for a subtle highlight to the face.
This foundation sets fast and I think that’s the reason why it lasts a really long time! I found that it looked just as fresh and even at the 6-hour mark. On a winter’s day, it lasts even longer (pushes up to 7 hours). But by about the 7-hour mark, my oily t-zone starts to shine through!
With the concealer, setting with powder is absolute key! The cream consistency causes the product to slip and slide all over – especially in the heat.
The foundation and concealer can be purchased as the Flawless Collection Set at the Nude by Nature website. The set is available exclusively online. The foundation and concealer are also available at Priceline and Chemist Warehouse for sale individually.
The foundation does take some getting used to – especially when it comes to the texture. That said, other trial team members said that they found it to be super easy to glide over the skin. It could just be my skin that doesn’t agree with the foundation. Leave a comment on your experiences with this product.
