Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve done a makeup application related post.
This post is all about embracing summer with a simple base, glowy bronzed skin and lipstick – haven’t decided the colour yet.
Plus stick around to the end of the post for a special surprise for you all.
In case you weren’t aware, DB Cosmetics are an Australian brand featuring budget friendly, cruelty free and vegan products.
I was first introduced to the brand when I cashed in my points at Beauty Heaven’s Beautorium event to purchase the DB Cosmetics brush set. So, when the brand reached out to me to trial some products*, I couldn’t say no.
After skincare and sunscreen, go in for primer. I’m using the Rise & Prime Illuminating primer. It comes in this rectangular bottle with a pump action nozzle.
I can tell you; from the get go, this product is Illumination Central. You gotta use the product sparingly – one pump of product will be more than sufficient. I find that when I do go overboard (yes, it happens more often than I care to admit), I tend to look more ashy than Illuminated.
I do love how the primer easily sinks into the skin and gives a luminous pearl-like result.
Next, grab the Brilliant Skin Bronzer and Illuminator duo and let’s get a bronzing. Using a nice fluffy brush (the DB Cosmetics powder brush), dip lightly on to the bronzer and apply product on to the outer edges of the face – the hollows of your cheeks, the temples. I like to use the guideline of tracing out the number 3 along the edge of the face.
Then use a smaller brush, apply the highlight to the high points of the cheeks. I like to use an eyeshadow blending brush to apply highlight as I get a more concentrated result on the cheek.
For a more even look I also like to apply the highlight over the eyelids for that subtle bling on the eyes. (Subtle bling? Is that an even a thing?). Finish off with curled lashes and a coat of mascara.
The jewel of the look would have to be the lips. Now I’ve got a choice of demure or bright.
If I want to go demure for the day (especially for meetings at work), I tend to favour nudes. But if I’m going in for a fun look (especially casual Fridays), I tend to go more colourful.
Here are my choices – Long wear lipstick in Dusty Nude or Popping Pink. Let me know what you think.
Now for the fun bit!
