We spend a lot of time taking the perfect selfie. And another chunk of time editing the selfie to attain even greater heights of perfection – evening the skintone, improving radiance, even whitening teeth. All in the name of attaining likes on Instagram.
Keeping this in mind, Rimmel have launched a range of products to help everyone be #instaready*
Insta Conceal and Correct Palette
I’ve never bought into the whole colour correcting game; to be honest, I didn’t really want to add yet one more step to my routine while being on a time crunch.
If you didn’t know, colour correcting is just that – it neutralises the colours on your face so that you have a uniform base to lay your foundation on. It works on the basic principle of light and colours and help achieve evenness.
Green – counter any redness on your skin
Peachy yellow – helps lift the dark shadows on your face e.g. under your eyes
Violet – neutralises any yellow undertones and improves the appearance of dull and sallow skin
All three are creamy products, which makes application easy. I just use fingers and dab onto the skin. You can follow through with a beauty sponge to smooth in place.
Insta Conceal and Contour Palette
I’m someone who would love to spend even a fraction of the time that some of the beauty gurus on YouTube and Instagram do to achieve their flawless looks. But sadly, I’m constantly on the run – much like Mila Kunis’s character in Bad Moms. I don’t have much time to spend blending contour and highlight with a brush as I tend to focus my attention on my eye makeup. This palette has three products – concealer, contour and highlight.
All three are creamy products, which means hello! Easy to blend with fingers or beauty sponge. Chiseled cheekbones are now easily achievable in a flash!
Insta Fix & Go 2 in 1 Primer and Setting Spray
I was totally intrigued by this product – a multi purpose primer and setting spray? How cool does that sound? You simply spritz the product onto your skin to prep – apply the colour correction and the rest of your makeup and finish off with another spritz. You can also use this product to refresh your skin during the day – especially if your skin feels tight and dry from the elements. This spray has a tropical fruity scent to it, which luckily is not overpowering. It is quite refreshing actually. And the spray nozzle releases a fine mist as opposed to spritzing droplets. Which is great because you want something that actually produces a fine mist to get rid of powdery traces.
Instaflawless Perfecting Radiant Skin Tint
This is not a new product; it was launched last year. This works like a primer / moisturiser with SPF protection. I have mixed feelings about this product. Don’t get me wrong, it has such an incredible sheen and makes my skin look absolutely radiant, but the smell is too strong and puts me off! I’ve used this for all of two times, and this will be going to someone who doesn’t have a high sensitivity to strong fragrances.
Insta Fix and Matte Powder
This powder looks so cute yet scary at the same time – I mean a white powder for the face? But fear not, this is a super finely milled pressed powder that doesn’t leave a white cast! I love the hashtag embossed in the powder. It has to be noted that the powder has a similar smell as the Skin Tint, but not as strongly. Being a person with combo skin, my oily t-zone tends to rear it’s ugly head about half way through my day, and it’s usually more pronounced during the warmer climes. This is definitely going to be my best friend for quick touch ups and to mattify the oily t-zone.
So while they may not be able to whiten teeth, Rimmel’s new range are pretty impressive budget buys for brighter and even looking skin. It’s easier now more than ever to be #instaready and #instaflawless to achieve that perfect selfie.
