A friend of mine recently went on a trip to her hometown in Italy. Cheekily, I asked her to pick up a few things for me from Kiko Milano (because why not – isn’t your holiday to exotic places meant to serve my beauty and skincare purchase needs?). I’ve always wanted to try products from the brand, but since they don’t ship to Australia (or shipping to Australia costs just as much as my house), I wasn’t able to.
I tell you, I couldn’t have been more excited to see someone return from their holiday! I tried to keep my hopes level – maybe they didn’t find the time to do the purchase or maybe their bags were broken into and someone spotted these products and stole them (while leaving their more expensive items behind).
So what did I end up getting?
Glossy Dream Sheer Lipstick in 204 Warm Rose
Price: EUR 6.95 / AUD 10.40
This hardly shows up as a product of colour on my lips. In fact, I would use it as a way to get a subtle shine on my pout. I love a good subtle sheen pared with a smoky eye. This definitely delivers. When layered on top of any lip colour, it boosts the shimmer in the look without looking too gloopy like a gloss tends to do.
Lips & Cheeks in 05 Mirage Hibiscus
Price: EUR 10.95 / AUD 16.39
Mirage Hibiscus, from the Summer 2.0 collection, is this pure red shade that lends a beautiful flush of colour to your cheeks. It’s creamy formula is so easy to blend and sets to a powder finish. But the finish feels so light and natural on the skin. The best part is that the colour makes me look like I’ve been having a good time in the sun and eating my veggies.
Bright Quartet Baked Eyeshadow Palette in Rosy Mauve
Price: EUR 12.95 / AUD 19.39
I was most excited by this palette. The Rosy Mauve shades feature two shadows with a matte finish and two with a pearl finish. Alas, the palette didn’t come to me in one piece – two of the shadows turned into dust (that’s the second time this year!). Which left me with the two matte shadows. It’s a funny feeling being devasted and excited at the same time. The two shadows that came intact are absolutely gorgeous!
That’s my foray into Kiko Milano. Have you tried anything from the brand? What are your recommendations?
