Hello beautiful people!
You all know my obsession with the colour blue. I love featuring the colour in my outfit – be it a top or even my earrings. Most of all, I love wearing the colour on my eyes. So for today’s post, I spent a week featuring blue on the eyes and this is what I came up with….
Monday – Blue Waterline
Monday is when you’re back in the grind and when most important meetings at work are scheduled. You want to look polished, yet show your own personality. A simple swipe of the blue liner in the waterline brings out your quirky side, yet it is subtle enough to pass off in a work environment. I’m using Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in the Shade 021 Denim Blue. You can pair it off with some really smokey eyeshadow or even just with mascara.
Tuesday – Copper and Blue
This has to be by far my favourite colour combination. Something about the shades just make your eyes pop! This is a pretty simple look and one I could achieve in no time flat. Simply grab an eyeshadow in a copper shade (I’m using Colourpop Supershock eyeshadow in White Rabbit, which leans towards an orangey copper shade, but alternatives could be Kat von D Serpentina Shade in Hieroglyph, or the copper shadow in the Revlon Colorstay Not Just Nudes Palette or the Maybelline The Nudes Palette).
Grabbing the Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof eye definer in the shade 230 Deep Ocean (seriously – such a beautiful shade), draw a simple line on the top lids. Apply mascara and viola, look two is done. It has impact without much effort.
Wednesday – Hump Day
The weekend is in sight! So bust out the blue mascara for today! I’m using the Covergirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara in the shade 850 Perry Blue. Katy Perry did a great collab with Covergirl to create this fun range of makeup. This is a super simple, quick application and run out the door kinda look (which is usually what happens to me on a Wednesday – I don’t know what it is, but I usually find myself running really late on a Wednesday morning). I also line the lids with the Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal eyeliner in the shade 021 Denim Blue. The contrast between the two blues really brings the focus to the eyes.
Thursday – Simple Does It
Thursday is usually the day when I feel the weight of the week and I just want to get through the week. This is when I grab a neutral eyeshadow, a simple eyeliner, a bit of mascara and out the door. Using the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creamy Beige, smooth all over the lid. Grab the Rimmel Colour Precise Liquid Liner in Blue – do a quick liner. If you want, you can do a winged liner. A few coats of mascara and your eyes are ready!
Friday – Grey and Blue Smoky Eye
Things are starting to get serious now! It’s party time. Grab the Rimmel Magnif’Eyes Double Ended Shadow & Liner in Blue Grey. I love using stick shadows – they are so easy to use and you can achieve a great outcome with such a versatile product. Using the grey shadow, draw jagged lines all over the lid. Smudge with a finger. Do one eye lid at a time as this shadow sets. FAST. If you’re not comfortable using fingers, just grab an eyeshadow brush and blend blend blend away. I’m going for a (sort of) work acceptable look. Well, not truly a work appropriate look – maybe pushing the boundaries of work appropriate. Switch to the side with the blue liner and apply to the waterline. You could line the top lash line too if you wish. Curl the lashes and apply mascara.
Saturday – Quick Blue!
Going for a quick breakfast or brunch with friends? Grab the Rimmel Scandal’Eyes cream shadow in Blue. This is incredibly creamy and smudges so beautifully on the lids. Using fingers, smudge lightly. One thing I do like to do with this shadow is smudge it on the fingers, pat it all over the lid. This creates a beautiful diffusion to the lids. A little liner (Soft Kohl liner in 021 Denim Blue), a touch of mascara (Volume Shake mascara) and you’re good to go.
That’s the roundup of my week in blue. Hope this post has given you some inspiration to incorporate blue in your repertoire. Which look appeals to you most? Let me know in the comments section.
