Yes, I did it! I joined a monthly beauty subscription box.
A lot of the insta-fam were on some beauty subscription or the other – and there’s just so many to choose from! There’s everything from a ‘Discover the world’ box to the ‘Food box’ and I think someone even subscribed to a ‘Shaving box’. If there’s a need you require, there’s definitely a box available.
I wanted to test the waters for subscription boxes and I didn’t want to spend too much moolah on the subscription – some of those things are pricey! Plus, while a skincare one may be awesome, I don’t know if I would go through that much skincare quickly plus the fear of getting an allergic reaction.
I locked my sights on Lip Monthly – a subscription box dedicated to lip products. What a cool, fun way to try out new colours and products! I checked with some of my dear friends and they recommended the subscription. Big shout out to Kat from Kats Colourings for making me feel at ease about the service.
I decided to choose the 4-month subscription worth USD 38 (around AUD 51 at the time). You get four boxes for the price of three. The best part is you can customise some products in your kit. I believe this is a new feature to the site.
After what seemed like a long wait, I received my first lip monthly box for November. In it were three lip products and a surprise eye product.
Luna Lip Gloss in Titania (valued at USD 22)
Ofra lip liner in Maya (valued at USD 13)
Hikari lip crayon in Pouty (valued at USD 13)
Freeze 24/7 Anti ageing eye serum deluxe size 7ml (valued at USD 50)*
The Ofra lip liner and the Hikari lip crayon were customizable. So I chose those colours because they look soo good!
* I checked the price for this product online and the full sized bottle is about 14ml and priced at USD 115. So, I’m just going to roll my eyes at the slightly over estimated value of $50 for the deluxe sized product.
I like the cute little pouch it comes in as well! The entire box has been valued at USD 98. While I don’t think it actually is worth USD 98, I’m not mad at the contents. I’m definitely keen on trying everything out – yes, including the lipgloss because it’s so metallic, which is on trend at the moment.
Lip Monthly doesn’t tell you what brands are included in the subscription box, because then it wouldn’t really be a surprise. But they do drop hints on their social media accounts – I follow them on Instagram. So do follow them to keep up to date on what’s coming.
