My love affair with matte liquid lipsticks started roughly around the time I got into blogging. I was completely obsessed scrolling through Instagram picture after picture of the beautifully made up lips with their rich vibrant shades.
I was recently sent a couple of liquid lipsticks by Om She Aromatherapy*.
Lets take a moment to admire the vivid packaging shall we? The soft silicone lid is a joy to hold. It feels comfortable in your hand and lends a luxurious touch to the overall look of the product. The tube in itself is shaded according to the colour inside, which is a great thing because in the morning, when I’m applying makeup in my zombie state, it’s easy to pick and choose the colour I want to rock for the day.
Product / Colours
The company website lists 6 shades:
The colours are really pigmented and the range includes a great mix of fun and everyday shades. This is like a typical liquid lipstick with the doe – foot applicator for easy even layers of product.
Blissful is a really beautiful grape-pink shade – it’s predominantly purple but has a hint of rose in it. My skintone makes this shade come across as a deep rose shade without transitioning into red. Namaste made me a little nervous because on the tube, it looks like a Barbie pink shade. But the shade inside was more of a muted rose shade. I can see myself wearing this one everyday.
The lipsticks have a light vanilla scent with a hint of a fruity undertone to it. It’s not too overwhelming and the fragrance lasts about an hour.

Texture / Lasting Power
The texture of the lipsticks really blew me away. I was expecting a gloopy sticky consistency that will settle into the lips for a matte result. This product is totally the opposite. It has a thick consistency that feels light and almost like a moussey cloud on your lips. I mean I have tried matte liquid lipstick with a creamy texture, but this really takes the cake. It settles down to a matte finish, but doesn’t tug nor pull; it doesn’t emphasise the fine lines and indents on your lips either (a huge win for a lip biter like me!)
Depending on what and how you eat, the lipstick will fade away – Lets be real, if you’re nibbling on biscuits, your lipstick will stay put longer, but the moment you start chowing down on some awesomely wholesome food (I’m thinking Indian curry, naan, pappad, raita – the works!) it makes like many lipsticks and fades away faster than the memory of Britney Spears’ role for the movie Crossroads (anyone watch it?). But it does leave a lovely light stain on the lips. Blissful fades to a beautiful rose pink shade and the stain doesn’t go patchy. Namaste does the same, but is more like a pink MLBB version of my lips.
Om She Aromatherapy created a really great product in these matte liquid lipsticks. They feel comfortable from the get go – the mousse like texture is so unlike what I’m used to with liquid lipsticks. The matte result doesn’t tug nor pull on your lips and the fragrance is light enough that it isn’t overwhelming. The lipsticks do not transfer once they settle down. This is a limited edition range and priced well at $9.95 each. Best of all, they are staunchly against animal cruelty (the company policy on testing on animals is linked here). I’m so grateful for the opportunity to trial these products from the company.
