Ride or Die Tag

Jaclyn Hill started this challenge recently and asked everyone to join in. At first I was on the fence of writing a post on this because, I really didn’t want to think of tossing away all my stash (just the thought of it sent shivers down my spine). But then my friend and all round lovely beauty blogger Laura Tough from The Life Of Laura wrote a blog post on it, which actually encouraged me to just do it.

The rules of the tag are simple – if you had to throw every makeup item you owned and had to start all over again, or if you were stranded on a deserted island and could only take one item in each category, what would it be?

PrimerEA flawless start Primer

I actually haven’t been using a lot of primer lately. My philosophy Day Cream takes care of my need to prime my skin before makeup. But if I had to choose a primer, it would have to be the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer. Hydrating yet mattifying, it works well for my combination skin – keeps my dry skin hydrated and my oily t-zone matte.

FoundationTrue match foundation

Anyone who knows me knows how hard it is for me to find a foundation to match my skin tone and combination skin. L’Oreal True Match Foundation is a recent discovery and ticks all the boxes for me. It is a medium coverage liquid foundation, but can be sheered out or built up depending on your coverage requirement. It has a dewy finish and makes me looks like I’m having a great skin day everytime I use this foundation. #myskinbutbetter

When I came to this category, it was a no-brainer for me. Benefit Benetint is my absolute go-to blush. It is a liquid lip and cheek tint and is the perfect shade of red to give me the most natural flush to my skin. I talk more about this blush here.

HighlightRevlon Skinlights Highlight

My favorite highlight has been discontinued sadly. It is the Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator liquid highlight. It gives my skin the right amount of illumination yet doesn’t emphasize pores or textures in the skin. In fact, it actually blurs the pores and imperfections! I’ve been using this one quite sparingly because I want it to last but sadly, I will have to face reality and start a search all over again. Maybe Becca?

This one is so hard! I have a thing for eyeshadows and for the longest time, I didn’t think I could choose. I don’t own many eyeshadow palettes- mostly individual shadows. It finally came down to the look I would choose to wear everyday. And that was from the Midsummer’s Dream palette from Sleek MakeUP (I have a separate blog post reviewing it here). I know it’s an eye and cheek palette, but I would seriously wear the blush as an eyeshadow too! That way, when I finally get to rescue myself from the deserted island, my photos in the papers would be that of a mysterious heroic woman a la Lara Croft (or maybe crazy cat lady, depending on how much I struggle to get off the island).

This category was again a no brainer for me. Without thinking, I could picture myself grabbing these two products. maybelline eyestudio

Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner in Blackest Black – this has been my go to liner for the last few years. The pigmentation, longevity and smudge proof properties just speak volumes of quality that rivals even the high end versions. bobbi brown kohl

Bobbi Brown kohl liner in Black Coffee – again my favourite to create a halo smokey look; which reminds me that I need to get more because I’m almost out.

These two lipsticks are in my handbag all the time. Even when taking the photo, I had to rummage in my bag to find it. cassis

Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Cassis – I love the reddish brown shade, it brightens up my skin for some reason (and who would want to say no to brighter looking skin?). It’s a pencil, smooth to apply and can also be used as a liner for precise application.touch of spice

My go to lipstick for winter is the Maybelline New York Matte Lipstick in Touch of Spice. It’s a pinky nude shade and I can see myself wearing it every single day.

MascaraPhysicians Formula Organic Mascara

I unfortunately ran out of the Physicians Formula Organic Mascara and so have to use an old photo for this post. I’m about to repurchase it on the weekend. This has been a consistent mascara – no nasties, no flaking, all round reliable mascara that lengthens my lashes.

Wow! I never thought I’d get through this post. But here we are. So, what are your Ride or Die products – the ones you would take with you on a deserted island?
